Principal's Message

On behalf of the staff at Main Street Elementary School, welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! It is with great enthusiasm that I step into the role of principal at MSI Elementary.  I am truly honored to become part of this community, which has already given me such a warm welcome!  In just the few interactions I’ve had with staff, students and families so far, it’s become abundantly clear that this school is a unique and special place.

All of us at MSI Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever. MSI Elementary is a wonderful learning community. Our community of educators are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

 Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

 Completes all homework assignments given by teachers

 Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills

 Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

 Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

 Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college

Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We seek volunteers from the community to help us with the following activities:

1.)   Reading with children who need extra help

2.)   School-wide events

3.)   Becoming involved in our school’s PTO.

Please contact the school office or your child’s teacher if you are interested in

participating. The school calendar of events and other important school and district information can be accessed on the Taylor ISD website: www.taylorisd.org

The Office Staff will continue to communicate through School Messenger, emails, student planners, monthly newsletters, and the school marquee. Please take time to review the Parent Handbook closely to learn more about the dress code, visitors on campus, discipline policies, and so forth.

The staff and I are looking forward to an educationally rewarding school year with you and your children. I hope that you will visit and volunteer often.

Respectfully,

Marcelina Cobb
