Welcome to fifth grade! I'm so excited to be your child's Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. As an elementary educator, my mission is to equip students with tools to be successful communicators, thinkers, problem-solvers and learners. It is my belief that children must have opportunities to explore through hands-on, real-world experiences. In order for all students to be successful, it is important to recognize that each child is an individual with different skills and needs. I am determined to utilize and integrate your child’s specific skills and needs into the classroom to provide each student the best education possible.
A little about myself: This is my first year at Main Street Intermediate and I’m ecstatic for all the fun ahead! I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I was born and raised in Seattle but consider Texas home. When I'm not in the classroom, I love to take day trips to new places and spend time with my family outdoors.
Kids are my passion and I knew since I was a little girl that I wanted to pursue a career that involved children. It brings me so much joy witnessing students have that “aha” moment and knowing I am educating future leaders, innovators and creators. I consider it a true honor to partner with you through this journey.
In closing, please know that my door is always open. Parents are the child's first educator, so I believe communication between home and school is vital for success. I can be reached via email at Kblasingame@taylorisd.org.
I look forward to a year of fun and learning alongside your child.
